What to Expect Before, During, & After Your First CoolSculpting® Treatment

With warm weather here, many patients are looking for ways to slim down and feel comfortable in their favorite shorts and swimsuits. CoolSculpting® is a popular way for Boston-area men and women to freeze away fat cells and contour the body. However, some may not know what to expect at their CoolSculpting appointment.

Signing up for a new cosmetic procedure may seem like a daunting process. Thankfully, a CoolSculpting session is a pretty straightforward procedure. Here’s the before, during, and after of what you can expect from your CoolSculpting journey.

Before

If you’re interested in trying out CoolSculpting, your first step is to schedule a one-on-one consultation with your provider. You can do so by contacting the practice online or by phone. During this time, you can ask any pressing questions and talk more about the areas you wish to treat. Common CoolSculpting treatment areas include spots such as:

  • Lower midsection
  • Inner thighs
  • Outer thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Double chin

Depending on your body contouring goals, your provider may also suggest other treatments that pair well with your procedure. Because CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical procedure with little to no downtime, many other treatments can be used alongside it.

During

Arrive a few minutes early for your appointment so that you have time to discuss any final details or fill out any paperwork. Once you’re ready, you will be led into the treatment room and asked to relax on a comfortable reclined seat. During treatment, the provider places the CoolSculpting applicator against the target area. In most cases, the applicator uses suction to hold the tissue in the place while carefully controlled cool air freezes away fat cells.

Your skin may feel a bit numb and tingly during treatment, but the procedure is not a painful process. The provider will make sure you remain happy and comfortable throughout the CoolSculpting session.

After

There is no downtime required after CoolSculpting, and you can return to your daily life immediately afterward. A few common side effects include slight swelling or bruising around the treated area. These issues will fade within a few days, and you can easily treat them with over-the-counter pain medication.

The results from your CoolSculpting treatment will develop over the next several weeks. If you want more dramatic results, you can schedule follow-up treatments at the practice.

Overall, CoolSculpting is an easy, forthright procedure that can help men and women reduce various fat deposits across the body. Our staff will stay with you every step of the way to make sure your needs are met.
