What is recovery like after breast augmentation? 

Breast augmentation is an outpatient surgery, meaning you’ll return home the same day (with someone to drive you). You should plan to take it easy and get plenty of rest during the first couple of days after surgery. Some women need only over-the-counter medication to manage discomfort, but you’ll also be provided a prescription for pain meds. Short, periodic walks around the house help prevent blood clots. Most patients can return to non-strenuous jobs within 3 to 5 days of surgery.  

How much does breast augmentation cost in Boston? 

Can I combine breast augmentation or a breast lift with other procedures? 

The cost of breast augmentation depends on several factors, including the type of implants you choose, the training and experience of the plastic surgeon, and if you combine breast augmentation with other procedures. Cost is discussed during the consultation, and you’re provided with a price quote to review before making your decision.  

Yes, and it’s not uncommon. Women who have had children often want to combine breast enhancement with other procedures, such as a tummy tuck, liposuction, or labiaplasty. This customized combination of surgeries is called a Mommy Makeover, and it is one of Dr. Davidson’s specialties.

How should I sleep after breast augmentation? 

This is a common question because so many people are side-sleepers, and it can be hard to adjust and still get a good night’s rest. It’s best, however, to sleep on your back for the first month after surgery. You might want to start sleeping on your back in the days or weeks leading up to the procedure to get acclimated to the position.  

When can I do upper body workouts after breast augmentation? 

Many breast augmentation patients are physically fit women who work out regularly and they’re anxious to return to the gym. Cardio exercises that don’t focus on the chest or upper body can be resumed earlier than chest exercises. Dr. Davidson tells his patients to wait a month before lifting weights and to start gradually with reduced weights and  repetitions.
